The European Union's plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the 27-member block would hurt EU businesses, according to Germany's Economic Minister.

In a statement released at a meeting on Tuesday of government and industry officials, German Economics Minister Jochen Homann said, "The conclusion of the conference is that there is only limited scope for reducing emissions in the industrial sector and the EU climate package needs improvement in key areas."
