Ok, this one should be filed in the “what were you thinking category”. The Earth Liberation Front (ELF) is taking credit for a fire early Monday (03 Mar 08) morning in Woodinville, WA area that destroyed 3 green luxury homes. Woodinville is a suburb of Seattle.

The ELF is a loosely organized network of radical environmental groups. Since the 1990s they have taken credit for several attacks.

The homes were a part “Street of Dreams”, a showcase for builders, landscapers and designers using the latest in environmental friendly building techniques.

It seems that the ELF was protesting this rural cluster development (RCD) near the headwaters of the Bear Creek. Bear Creek is the home of the endangered Chinook salmon.

Let’s think this one out. A group that is supposed to be concerned about the environment burns down homes in an effort to protect the environment. What was the environmental impact of the fire? Or what if the fire had spread to surrounding undeveloped areas? It seems that there are better ways to protect the environment than burning houses down. The ELF crossed the line years ago from a group of concerned citizens to radicals that will do anything in the name of their cause.
