Van
Hall Larenstein University in The Netherlands will launch a 4 year bachelor
program "Fair Trade Management" in September 2008.
Fair
Trade Management will train students to operate as professionals in the world
of agricultural food production where they will work with special
attention to empower small holder farmers and small rural non-farm
entrepreneurs in the South. The theoretical part of the program will focus on supply
chain management of tropical products like coffee, cocoa, avocados, vegetables
and flowers among others. Fair trade certification will be
studied. Students will put theory into practice through traineeships in
companies in the North like AgroFair, Global Fruit or with (fair
trade) producers in the South.
