Several years ago Joe Sidoti, a farmer in Orange County New York, sought out ways to donate the surplus food he produced on his farm. However, when the market was good and all of Sidoti's food sold there was none left to donate. So City Harvest created the Harvest Works progeam in which they reimburse Sidoti and other farmers the cost of picking and preparing the food they are donating.
