Net Benefits: Weighing the Challenges and Benefits of Volunteers
The aproach outlined buy this presentation is based on Economic reasoning and follows these four steps:
- The new metric is based on economic reasoning, but it does not require economic calculation.
- Economic reasoning means that we consider benefits as well as challenges of volunteer involvement, and that we seek a positive return on our investment in volunteers
- Estimating the monetary costs, and especially the benefits, of volunteer involvement can be difficult
- Our new metric, instead, weighs the advantages volunteers bring to the organization against the challenges their involvement creates
