Introduction

Successful third sector organisations aim to increase the professionalism with which they operate, diversify their income sources to provide sustainable income and deliver value for money in the services they provide to their end users. At the same time, companies are being urged to adopt a responsible business approach, create better links with the communities in which they operate, and contribute to the quality of life in their local area. Significant mutual benefit connections can result from creating links between communities and the businesses that operate in the local area. Despite this, between charities and businesses are often created in an ad hoc way. This toolkit aims to provide help in adopting a more strategic approach to developing that relationship to deliver mutual support for each other’s aims and objectives.
